Jeff Koch Bio
Drawing Inspiration from the Rockies... if he's not out hiking, he's playing the piano. In his current phase, he performs solo piano and keyboards influenced by artists such as Herbie Hancock, Chic Corea, Bill Evans, Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Phish, Goose, and Dopapod. Incorporating sounds of piano, Rhodes, synths, and self-created backing tracks (Bass and Drums), Jeff performs original and cover tunes with an eclectic style from Jazz, to Blues, to Rock, to one-man-jam-band improvisation.
His life long musical journey started with piano lessons at the age of 8. Then upon hearing Led Zeppelin at the age of 13, he focused on guitar and played in bands through high school and college. Then the funky bass grooves of Bootsy Collins and Jaco Pastorius inspired him to pickup bass and write music and record an album with his band StoneApple. Finally he came full circle back to his life long passion... keyboards. He recorded an album with his new band Split Level and enjoyed success in Michigan. Now a new chapter in his life has brought Jeff to Colorado where he enjoys exploring the outdoors, writing music, recording, and performing.
Along the way Jeff earned degrees in Mechanical/Acoustical Engineering and minor in Business from Virginia Tech and Sound Engineering from Recording Institute of Detroit. For over 25 years he designed speakers, amplifiers, and sound systems for the automotive industry.
